Some of Zambia's exciting adventure and sports activities include:
Abseiling
Abseiling is a fantastic way to face your fear of heights and experience the thrill of rappelling down a cliff. This is a great activity for the family and also team building events. Companies that offer this service ensure that your experience is enjoyable but above all safe. You will be helmeted and attached to the main rope and safety rope from your harness, then you will be gently lowered over the platform. Slowly the rope is let out as you make your way down the rock face, you will definitely improve with each attempt and you can go down as often as time allows.
Giving you control over how quickly or how slowly you descend, each descent can be tailored to the individual, making abseiling one of the most fulfilling outdoor activities. When you reach the ground, you have the choice of walking out or being pulled back up. The hike out of the gorge is a steep slope (a person of average fitness can manage this in approximately 20 minutes).
Animal Encounter
Explore wildlife, learn about wildlife, help wildlife conservation. Companies that give you the opportunity to get really close to wildlife are listed in this category. This helps to advance understanding of wildlife by promoting awareness through education programs on biodiversity conservation, with rich and diversified related topics and sessions, targeting all age groups, students and public, along with hands-on wildlife programs and environmental activities. Exploring different native animals and plants in Zambia, through live tours in the wild and walks in nature. Protecting, propagating through captive breeding, and releasing the wild animals when cured so that each of us make more environmentally sensitive decisions in our daily lives.
Bungee jumping
Bungee jumping is one of the most extreme sports you can practice that involves jumping from a tall structure while your feet are connected to a long and a large elastic cord. Normally, the structure from which one jumps from would be a bridge with the river at the base, sometimes a hot air balloon and on some occasions jumping from a helicopter. Adrenaline lovers and travellers that want to try it for the first time go around the world looking for the best places to practice it. There are many places around the world where you can jump, some are natural sceneries of a beauty you can’t miss and others are man-made and have impressive dimensions.
Canoeing
A canoeing safari spent on the Lower Zambezi River is a trip you make through the flood plains of the Mana pools region. This unique river experience encompasses much of what the best of the Zambezi River has to offer. The Lower Zambezi canoeing safari has got to be the ultimate in relaxed excitement, as you canoe through the section of the Zambezi flanked by National Parks on both sides. The Upper Zambezi River a wonderfully relaxing way to enjoy the astonishingly beautiful scenery that lines the river before it takes its plunge over the Victoria Falls. Canoe safaris on the Kafue River in the Kafue National Park and the Luangwa River in the South Luangwa are exciting adventures allowing you to get really close to the wildlife on the banks of the rivers.
Fishing
Fishing is often possible at Zambia safari destinations, with fishing day trips on offer and Zambia lake destinations have lake fishing charters available. Fishing safari holidays are also available in Zambia, tiger fishing in the Zambezi River is very popular. The river also offers great fishing for tasty bream, chessa and vundu. As an angler, you must be prepared to travel long distances over rough roads, carrying your gear. There are very few hotels and lodges off the main roads, and fewer still in fishing areas, though the Zambia National Tourism Board is conducting a successful campaign for more hotels and rest houses, particularly the lodges in the national parks, where good fishing is to be had on the rivers. The best months for angling in Zambia are September through to November and March through to June, however, due to the high temperatures experienced in the Zambezi Valley, fishing is practically a year round past-time!
