Shaka – 1 x deluxe safari tent
This deluxe flagship tent, overlooking the Zambezi River, is tucked away from the rest of the camp, offering extra privacy. The Shaka tent is an elegant abode, furnished in teak, with a king size bed, two single beds and a lounge area, making it the ideal family unit or secluded couples' retreat. The beautiful en-suite bathroom has a bath and shower.
Bemba – 7 x luxury safari tents
The luxury two sleeper Bemba tents are built on a raised wooden deck to provide guests with optimum views of the river and wildlife from the comfort of their patio. Tents are decorated in a classic safari style and are furnished with either two single beds, or a double bed. In addition, space can be made to accommodate two children on mattresses. The spacious en-suite bathrooms have 24 hour hot water.
Tonga – 3 x self-catering tents
The Tonga tents offer the same style and comfort as the Bemba tents, but with the addition of self-catering facilities. Each unit is equipped with all the necessary cutlery and crockery, and has a private braai area (barbecue) and gas cooker. Currently there is one family unit that sleeps four people in one room, and two that each sleep two people in either single or double beds.
Camp sites
The lodge boasts of 7 camping sites – namely Monkey, Mvuu, Elly, Leopard, Warthog, Croc and Lion. Each site has its own ablution facilities comprising of a hot shower, flush toilet and wash basin. The campsites, situated in close proximity to the Lodge, nestle in thick bush under a canopy of indigenous trees, providing a cool haven from the African sun. Monkey is a grass camping site that can accommodate about five tents, while Mvuu and Elly, situated on the river's edge, can host three and four tents respectively. Leopard can also accommodate four tents. The other three sites are bush camps located at the back of the Lodge. They can each cater for three or four tents.
Facilities Restaurant and bar
The thatched restaurant and bar has a stunning deck that extends over the banks of the Zambezi River. A perfect spot for absorbing those breath-taking sunsets whilst sipping a sundowner, dining out under a canopy of brightly lit stars or for having your early morning coffee. Here the dramatic dawn announces the new day in true African splendour. The bar is open from 10:00 hrs till 22:00 hrs. Guests who are camping or in the self-catering tents are welcome to drop by the bar and restaurant for a meal when they are not in the mood to cook! Advance bookings for these meals are recommended, to ensure complete satisfaction.
Swimming pool
A refreshing swim and nap underneath the shady Leadwood trees is a sure way to relax body and mind – that is provided the elephants are not looking for a mid-day cool down too and are drinking from the pool!
Cell phone reception
Mvuu Lodge is one of the few lodges in the area that has cell phone reception. Wifi and internet connectivity is provided via a modern VSAT system. Wifi is available in designated areas at certain times of the day.
Power
Generator power is provided at certain times during the day but switched off at night. Solar LED lights are situated through the Lodge, camp sites and tents.
