05:15 - Security guards will give you a wakeup call by GENTLY knocking on your door.
05:30 – Breakfast is served in front of a campfire at the Boma area. Juice, coffee, pancakes, Oatmeal and fruit get you ready for your drive at 06:00
06:00 to 08:00 - The early morning air bursts with songs of one of over 450 species of birds in the area greeting the day and mammals grazing with their young along the Luangwa River.
08:00 - A coffee/tea and snack break. After you will continue your drive to see the magnificent wildlife of the Luangwa valley.
10:00 to 11:00 – You come back to the camp (depending on the sightings)
11:30 - Lunch is served by the pool. After having your lunch, you are free to catch up with a nap, or a walk around the camp, a swim in the pool or play a game of backgammon in the lounge.
15:30 - African tea and cakes
16:00 - This is the perfect time for an evening drive. At sunset, you will take a relaxing stop to admire the incredible sunsets (or as it is known in Africa “a sundowner”). You can enjoy some drinks and a small snack before continuing your drive into the night. During this drive, chances are high for you to catch a glimpse into the life of predators of the African night that are on the hunt such as leopards, lions and wild dogs. Viewing a hunt or just seeing these magnificent animals in their element is always an incredible experience.
19:00 to 20:00 – Around this time, you will come back to the lights of Zikomo Safari Camp where dinner under the stars awaits. After your dinner and cocktails, you can have a game of pool, a night swim or just a hot chocolate to end your day.
Zikomo Safari Camp’s safari activities at your disposal include morning and evening game drives as well as walking safaris which take place in the Nsefu sector of South Luangwa National Park. You can also go on a trip to see the Chichele hot springs, Stork colony, Carmine bee eaters, nesting areas and hippo pods. Other possible trips are a village tour, or visit to a local artist in the area.

The South Luangwa National Park is located in eastern Zambia, the southernmost of three national parks in the valley of the Luangwa River. It is a world-renowned wildlife haven with concentrations of game along the meandering Luangwa River and its lagoons. This park supports more than 60 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds, making it one of the best places for safaris.
Zikomo Safari Camp has its own crossing point which takes its guests right into the Luangwa National Park during the dry season. At the end of the wet season, it is necessary to drive a little further to enter the park.

Zikomo Safari offers a campsite right on the bank of the Luangwa River. It has large shady pitches overlooking the river, which are within easy access to the bar, restaurant and swimming pool. Wifi access is available. The campsite is self-catering only and no overland trucks or generators are allowed in this area. There are shower and toilet facilities.

Proliferation of wild animals from the park
The campsite at Zikomo Safari faces the Luangwa River, with summer huts for shade where you can make use of the fire pits. Ablution facilities are available consisting of toilets and showers. There are cement sink areas for washing dishes.
With the campsite being on the river bank, you will see a variety of wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, impalas, bushbuck, giraffes and zebras. From the nearby island, you should be able to spot lions, wild dogs and a few leopards.
