At night soak up the stars… countless pinholes in the rich dark African night, the mirage heat, the splendour of the ever changing sunsets, the night orchestra of crickets, the distinct roar of a lion, the dry grass smell of the bush – the real Africa.
Lake Itezhi-tezhi shoreline varies from the grassy banks where the hippo graze to the rocky bays ideal for fishing, to the stretches of submerged trees – wild and wonderful perches, sculpted by nature for the breeding Cormorant.
Lake cruises
Musungwa guides you through this aquatic world in style on the “Zambezi Queen”. The “Zambezi Queen” has become part of Zambian history. Commissioned in the early 50’s as the luxury cruiser for the elite tourists of the time, she cruised along the Zambezi at the head of the mighty Victoria Falls, carrying a host of personalities including Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Now totally refitted she cruises Lake Itezhi-tezhi for you. Full day cruises and sundowner, booze cruises are available.
Safaris by boat and walking
Enjoy the beauty of Lake Itezhi-tezhi and the Kafue National Park. Camping trips may be arranged where you pop from island to island and share the knowledge of our local guides.
River cruises
From Lake Itezhi-tezhi Dam flows the Kafue River, Musungwa Safaris offers river cruises where hippos and crocodiles and a variety of bird life may be viewed. Fishing trips may be arranged for the keen fisherman. Rods and tackle are available for hire at the lodge.
Combined river cruises
Musungwa offers a combined river cruise with visits to the Longola Hot Springs and Iyanda Village. The change of scenery from Mimbo woodlands to spiraling palm trees makes a dramatic contrast from the African Bush.
Daily safaris
Morning afternoon and evening. They last approximately two and a half hours and are along the lake drive, Ngoma and Nkala loops.
