This lodge in South Luangwa National Park has been lovingly restored to its former glory. It was built in the 1970s to accommodate the then President of Zambia but fell into disrepair in the 1990s. It has been redeveloped in a way that keeps the lodge's heritage whilst improving the facilities.
Mushroom Lodge has highly trained staff on hand to ensure all your needs are taken care of. There is a swimming pool overlooking the lagoon, a communal 'nsaka' (open air lounge area) and a massage spa. Mushroom Lodge is justly proud of its beautiful large verandah overlooking a natural lagoon where Zambian wildlife come to drink.
Quality meals are served at Mushroom Lodge. Alternatively private meals and drinks can be arranged. The fully-stocked bar offers a variety of drinks for even the most discerning.
Mushroom Lodge is a child-friendly establishment, with linked chalets for families. Children over the age of six are welcome at Mushroom Lodge. Baby sitters and special meals are available.
Mushroom Lodge offers comfortable, rustic but modern accommodation in 12 double secluded thatched chalets set under Ebony trees along the Mfuwe Lagoon. They are named after the six chiefs of the area – Nsefu, Mhkanya, Jumbe, Malama, Msoro and Kakumbi – making Mushroom Lodge a uniquely Zambian facility.
The chalets are well ventilated with large windows and high ceilings, and decorated to create a rich African feel. Each chalet has an en suite bathroom and indoor shower with a full range of amenities, separate toilet and an outside shower for complete comfort. Wireless internet is provided. Choose from twin or double bed options. Enjoy your own lounge area and private patio overlooking the lagoon, allowing for safe close-up viewing of birds and wildlife.
Presidential House was the holiday home of Dr Kenneth Kaunda, the first President of Zambia. It is currently undergoing renovations but on completion guests can enjoy this luxurious accommodation with five bedrooms. It makes an ideal getaway for families and groups of up to ten.
