Scattered around the deck are small arrangements of armchairs and coffee tables. Without doubt there is space to breathe here, with a very large main lodge, several standard chalets and a family villa which are all very spacious, clean and airy. The tented accommodation is set apart from the chalets and is very basic and much cheaper, and within the price you are still able to benefit from all the facilities of the main lodge. A beautiful setting right on the river with large verandahs extending over the water from the main lodge and some of the rooms.
Mukambi Safari Lodge is a Zambian based company that operates three camps in the Kafue National Park, Mukambi Safari Lodge on the Kafue River, which is open throughout the year, a comfortable 3 hour drive from Lusaka, Mukambi Fig Tree Bush Camp and Mukambi Plains Camp on the spectacular Busanga Plains, a 150 km game drive from the main lodge to the bush camp all through Kafue National Park.
Chalets (2-4 persons):
Eight comfortable en-suite chalets for two persons of which one a family unit (4 persons) with en suite bathroom,rondavel type, 24hrs electricity and hot water. Chalets come with either one queen size double bed or 2 single beds with cotton sheets, duvet, extra blankets available and mosquito nets.
The family chalet has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds plus a lounge for relaxation. Bathroom comes with shower, toilet, basin and mirror. Outside terrace with chairs and side table.
Family Villa (4-persons):
One luxury family riverside villa with two bedrooms both en suite. One with a queen sized bed and the other with two singles, a fully furnished living room, an extensive wooden deck overlooking the Kafue River. This unit is right on the banks of the river.
Luxury Safari Tents:
Four luxury tents that have a private deck with comfy seating overlooking the Kafue River. This is the most luxurious accommodation with each unit situated privately surrounded by natural riverine bush. A freestanding ball and claw bathtub is found on each deck. Further enhancing the African theme, the furniture is made out of recycled wood from dhows that used to sail the Indian Ocean off Tanzania. Romantic mosquito nets surround luxurious box spring beds and the entrance to the private deck is made of wall to wall wooden sliding glass doors that provide spectacular views and light into the tents. The tents have an open bathroom set up with shower, toilet and washbasin. All rooms are made up as king beds but can be made up as twins on request.
