The Kafue River is the lifeblood of the park. Away from its banks there is a wide variety of woodlands as well as open grasslands. These host a diverse array of wildlife species including over 150 different mammals along with an amazing 470 species of bird. Kushiyana are very good at designing tours that include this magnificent variety. With such a selection, Kushiyana Safaris offers the ultimate safari experience in Kafue National Park and Victoria Falls, with a travel resting place just outside Lusaka. Destinations include:
Nanzhila Plains Camp
An intimate lodge located in the remote southern sector of Kafue National Park. The area is best known for its lush woodlands, the beautiful plains and the Nanzhila stream that runs through it. It offers excellent opportunities for game viewing and birding, including regular sightings of all the major carnivore species. This lodge accommodates 12 guests in four well appointed and spacious thatched en-suite cottages and 2 meru en-suite tents, which blend perfectly into the undergrowth.
Cooke's African Safaris (Konkamoya)
A family run safari lodge situated on the banks of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi in the southern regions of the unspoilt Kafue National Park. Rustic but charming, the lodge is all about embracing nature, and the location ensures a stunning safari adventure. Konkamoya consists of just three chalets, sleeping six people.
Kaingu Safari Lodge
Situated on the Kafue River, Kaingu is set in an area of pristine wilderness. There are just four safari tents, a cottage and campsite. Walking safaris, river cruises and bird watching are always special on a river like the Kafue.
Mukambi Safari Lodge and Busanga Plains Camp
Mukambi Safari Lodge is situated on the banks of the Kafue river and offers a variety of activities in the park. It also runs Busanga Plains Camp in the far north of the park, which is accessible in the dry season (July – October). The five hours drive to the camp is one long game drive through various habitats with abundant wildlife.
Hippo Lodge
Situated along the banks of the Kafue River in Kafue National Park this is a small, vintage-style stone-built camp with four uniquely built private chalets and two rustic safari tents each with open-air stone bathrooms.
McBrides' Camp
Located in the North East of Kafue National Park the camp is run by Chris and Charlotte who are your hosts and guides. They specialise in walking, boat trips and game drives. Chris is a well known author who has written several books on lions. Accommodation consists of seven traditionally built thatched rooms.
