Kanyemba Lodge

The en-suite bathrooms have modern fittings and each chalet has a walk in wardrobe, hanging rails, and a digital safe. The power supply is 220V with full generator backup. Other facilities include ceiling fans and mosquito nets.

The stylish restaurant and bar overlooks the Zambezi River and offers a spacious and relaxed dining experience. Meanwhile upstairs, guests can relax and enjoy the extensive library and lounge with a view across the river.

The Kanyemba Lodge offers their famous cuisine under the branches of a giant wild mango tree. Their team of well-trained chefs prepare a wide variety of delicious meals that have an Italian influence.

Guests can cool down in their beautiful swimming pool which is strategically located on the banks of the Zambezi River, with built-in benches that allow a retreat from the hotter hours of the day. Elephants can be spotted on the opposite bank.

Ten comfortable chalets , each with deck viewing the Zambezi river, en-suite bathrooms. No comforts are spared. The chalets are built out of natural materials, stone walls and thatched roofs. This allows the structures to blend in with the surroundings, but most of all it means that the chalets stay very cool even in the hotter months.

Kanyemba has mains electricity, tea coffee making facilities, hair dryers, and safes in each room. Meals are well renowned for their mouthwatering experience, and dinners are served under a gigantic wild mango. Proper Italian coffees, and cappuccinos are served throughout the day.

Each evening guests are treated to Kanyemba Lodge’s award winning cuisine of traditional Italian fare with the freshest and most typical local ingredients, under the branches of a giant wild mango tree.

Kanyemba also owns and operates a small, intimate bushcamp on its own private Island. Activities include walking safaris , canoe safaris , boat safaris , angling – tigerfish , sunset cruises , village walks, game drives. Transfers from Lusaka or from any airstrip can be organised on request.

Get up close and personal to nature in a way that you just can't manage from a vehicle. Depart the lodge early morning for a quick boat trip across to Kanyemba Island, where you will be taken on a game walk with experienced guides.

The focus of the walks is on vegetation, tracks, and other signs of life on the island. Insects and birds are a feature, though it is not uncommon to see herbivores such as bushbuck, waterbuck, and even elephant while on foot. You will complete your walk at the Kanyemba Island Bush Camp ready for a transfer back to the lodge around 9.30am.

Guests must be fit enough to complete a walk of around 3.5 hours, and to move quickly if required. The ground is somewhat uneven, so sturdy shoes are best. Natural coloured clothing only, no white or bright colours, and a hat is recommended.
