Lower Primary
Through continuous assessments and end-of-term exams, student progress is carefully monitored with additional support and reinforcement provided as needed. Our small class sizes (15 to 20 students) enable a more individualised teaching and learning to take place with a lot of scope for group-work, practical activities and projects to enrich and develop a deeper understanding of the content.
Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs)
To help supplement the school's broad curriculum, a wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered to the children. Currently, there are afternoon sessions available in Art, Drama, Dance, Spelling-Bee and French Culture. Each term, new ECAs will be offered and some existing ones discontinued in an effort to keep things ever vibrant and relevant to our children’s interests, as well as to incorporate seasonal changes in our weather. This includes offering swimming, football/soccer and mini-cricket.

The school believes in providing students with the opportunity to discover and develop their talents, so they can make lifelong connections with each other and the world around them by building strong relationships.
The team at Cherry Hills International School passionately believes in the power of personalised learning and individual growth. They understand that every child is unique, with their own strengths, weaknesses, and ways of interpreting the world. That's why the experienced staff create tailored learning plans for every child, from Foundation to Year 3, nurturing their natural curiosity and encouraging their individual learning styles. This personalised approach allows the school to cater to each student's specific needs, fostering their academic, social, emotional and creative growth.
Furthermore, they build on this individualised learning with regular progress assessments and constructive feedback, helping students to understand their own growth, set realistic goals, and strive to reach them. The aim is to foster a love of learning in each child, empowering them to continually seek knowledge and growth throughout their lives. In this way, Cherry Hills promotes a culture of lifelong learning and personal development, preparing students for success in their future endeavours.
At Cherry Hills International School, the team have adopted a myriad of strategic approaches to cater to each student's individual needs and to foster their growth. Experienced teachers utilise differentiated instruction, adjusting their teaching methods and materials to suit the learning pace and style of each student. For instance, visual learners are best taught using diagrams and images, whereas auditory learners benefit more from verbal explanations.
Individual learning plans play a vital role in the school's strategy. These are meticulously designed by staff to align with each student's learning objectives and capabilities. These plans are regularly updated based on students' progress, and parents are kept informed at every step.
Another cornerstone of Cherry Hills' strategy is the active promotion of student autonomy. From Foundation to Year 3, the school encourages students to take ownership of their learning. It provides them with the tools and guidance to set their own academic goals, fostering a sense of responsibility and boosting their confidence.
Lastly, the school incorporates constructive feedback and regular progress assessments into its teaching methodology. These assessments are not just about grades, but are a means to identify strengths, spotlight areas for improvement and tailor teaching strategies accordingly. This approach ensures that each child is on a path of steady growth and development.
