𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱

Last night in Bristol, we had an incredible event that brought together over 70 passionate professionals from the filmmaking and conservation world. Dawas were flowing—an iconic drink from East Africa known for bringing people together. We were honored to host filmmakers, photographers, conservationists, and those eager to make a difference through film both from Africa and well as the UK and Europe.

It was such an honour to co-host this event with fellow film-fixers and all-round amazing ladies, 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘆 from 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 in 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮, 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗗'𝗢𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 from 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗿𝘀 in 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮, as well as 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻 having recently joined the 𝗔𝘁𝗼𝗭 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺. The event was really a collaboration and celebration of the various projects we've all worked on over the past few years.

It also provided a great opportunity for networking with like-minded professionals during the Wild-screen gathering. #WildScreenFestival2024

What’s a Dawa? 🍹: In Swahili, "Dawa" means "medicine," and this refreshing drink is a traditional Kenyan cocktail known for its uplifting vibe. It's a mix of honey, lime, vodka, and ice, and it's the perfect way to celebrate new connections and creative collaborations.

To add a special touch, each guest was gifted their very own beaded Dawa stick, made in the colours of Zambia, Kenya, and Tanzania. The Dawa stick is a traditional tool used to muddle limes for the iconic cocktail—making it a memorable keepsake from the evening. 🌍🍹

“𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂, 𝑭𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒎” – was the tagline that shaped our evening, highlighting our shared commitment to natural history film-making.
