The Centre for Zero Waste & Development in Africa has been implementing the Kicking The Bags Out campaign since 2015 to push for a total ban on single-use plastics in Zambia. The campaign itself aims at engaging and raising awareness among communities, organizations, students, policymakers and government leaders in addressing the urgent need of putting in place an ordinance on the ban of single-use plastic bags in Zambia and the rest of Africa in order to reduce flooding, improve water, air and soil quality, protect marine life and wildlife. The campaign also addresses the creation of local and green jobs for women and youth.
