Rapids 10 to 25 (afternoon expedition) are slightly less challenging. The morning section of the river is classified as Grade 5 'extremely difficult, long and violent rapids, steep gradients, big drops and pressure areas'. The afternoon section is slightly less challenging and is of a lower grade. A lift out of the gorge at rapid 25 is included in the rafting package. For those of good fitness, 15 years or over.
Safari Par Excellence operates year round. The river conditions are determined by seasonally predictable fluctuations in water levels. Low water season generally runs from August to January each year – this is when the Zambezi is at its very wildest. The high water is from about February to July with a short “closed season” around April/May depending on the season’s rains.
