This is a place to refuel, to catch your breath and gather your thoughts, as you look forward to your up and coming Zambian adventure. Or use Pioneer as a base to plan the next episode of your travel experience. As a guest you are encouraged to walk around the property and enjoy the landscape, find a peaceful spot to read a book or just find fellow visitors to talk to. The area is known to be very good for birds so don't forget your binoculars!
There's a selection of rooms at Pioneer that include ten cozy and romantic thatched chalets (two double and eight twin chalets) and a beautiful two bedroomed cottage set within the 25 acres of miombo woodland. Chalets range from simple yet stylish comfort to accommodation that is wonderfully lavish, each with individually designed African style fittings.
All en-suite chalets are delightfully secluded, with verandahs opening to stunning woodland views. Luxury chalets have en-suite bathrooms with king size four poster bed or twin beds, showers and, or a sunken bath. Pioneer chalets are similar to the luxury safari chalets but without private facilities. The family chalets are larger and sleep three. The two family chalets share shower room and wash room with each other.
At the centre of Pioneer Camp is the 'Chitenge' open thatched bar and restaurant. The 'Chitenge', with its friendly staff, is definitely the place to exchange tales of adventure with fellow travellers! For residents only, it's open from 07.00 to 23.00 every day.
Tea and coffee are available on tap and, along with other drinks from the bar, can be brought to your chalet on request.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are also served in the 'Chitenge'. Pioneer Camp is well known for its candle lit BBQs and tasty meals served in the evenings – in particular the tasty 500gm T-bone steaks!Pioneer Camp information
