In Europe, Munich Advisors Group is active in the field of eMobility, Corporate Social Responsibility and carbon markets. On the African side the group focusses on the evaluation of social, economical and public projects such as waste and recycling management, health services, water and sanitation, education, and environment. In both regions Munich Advisors Group supports projects that implement renewable energy technologies.
The efficient use of energy and the reduction of carbon emissions are now important global issues. The Munich Advisors Group supports companies' efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, and can help them off-set carbon emissions through support for development projects in Zambia and other parts of Africa. There are many alternative energy sources that can be developed by using the relevant technologies — such as water, solar, wind, biogas, forestry, biomass and biofuels.
Carbon strategy development
Munich Advisors Group can design and develop your carbon management strategy. They will help you develop carbon objectives, define strategic action areas and develop the carbon implementation plan with carbon reduction targets for operations.
Carbon footprint
Munich Advisors Group will calculate your organisation's carbon footprint, using accepted standards and nationally relevant emissions factors to determine, on a life cycle basis, the carbon footprint for your products and services.
Carbon mitigation
Here the drivers for the carbon footprint of institutions are analysed and defined. Part of the work is to define carbon footprint improvement programs and quantify potential cost reduction through carbon footprint optimisation.
Carbon communication
Munich Advisors Group will develop your internal and external carbon communication strategy. Through carbon awareness workshops both customers and staff can be educated and inspired.
Carbon offset
Munich Advisors Group support companies and institutions on the selection of the right carbon standard for planned activities. They can prepare all required documentation to obtain carbon neutral certification.
Example of a development project whose support offsets carbon emissions
The client is Buyantanshi Open Christian Community Schools (BOCCS) and the project is Waya School Sanitation Project in a peri-urban area of Kabwe in Zambia.
The project is a charitable mission school which ran a school feeding program and was facing difficulties in sourcing enough fuel wood for the program. There was no option of using cookers. An improved toilet block with Decentralised Waters Treatment Solution (DEWATS) was designed and built and a biogas digester was added to the DEWATS system.
The results achieved:
- The cooks are able to cook over bio-gas which reduces the fuel wood amount by over 50% making the school more environmentally friendly, and cutting fuel costs by that amount.
- The pupils have an improved toilet that will be clean
- Hand washing facilities have been placed near the toilet so that adequate sanitation is observed
- Children have been trained in proper hand washing
