Mukambi Fig Tree Bush Camp

Wild dogs have been known to prey on the concentration of game around the lagoon. Guests can spend afternoons relaxing to the sights and sounds of hippos, crocodiles and birds within the lagoon.

Fig Tree Bush Camp has tented accommodation on 3-metre platforms above the ground, giving a spectacular view over the lagoon and the plains towards the entrance of the camp.

Guests will stay in one of four furnished safari tents raised on 3m high platforms. Each tent overlooks the lagoon but also has a private view of the plains behind the camp offering unique opportunities to spot game. Each safari tent has an en-suite bathroom and veranda presenting a unique view from the tree canopy. Guests can come together underneath the fig tree, from which the camp is named, to savour the serenity of the lagoon as well as delicious food and wine.

Along with the tented accommodation is a boma, the main area next to the Fig tree overlooking a unique sandy beach, and giving a lovely view of the lagoon where a variety of animals come for a drink and memorable moments are made. The beautiful location in combination with spectacular accommodation and the variety of wildlife will be the main attractions, not to mention the remoteness of the camp.

Game drives

Game drives are twice a day. One departs at sunrise and the afternoon drive, partly a night drive, leaves at approximately 2 hours before sunset. Drives are 3.5 to 4 hours long.

Walking safaris

Walks leave around an hour after sunrise to avoid the heat of the day. The walks take place in the Kafue National Park itself and are approximately 3 hours, unfortunately not available due to the wet conditions from approximately December to May.
