Livingstone Royal Golf and Country Club

This 18 hole golf course provides a unique African golfing experience in Zambia. The Livingstone Royal Golf and Country Club honours the tradition and history of the game of golf and offers golfers on holiday in Zambia an unforgettable experience. Beautiful old trees line these Livingstone fairways and greens. The course layout offers golfers a classic parkland challenge. The course is for traditionalists. It is a return to golf played on foot, where one enjoys not only the game but the surroundings as well. The Club policy is that it is open to members and guests and one caddy per person is compulsory. Visitors to the Club can also enjoy the on site spa and gym. Future plans for the Livingstone Royal Golf and Country Club include a pool, lawn tennis courts, river restaurant and helipad!

The Livingstone Royal Golf and Country Club is set in a veritable botanical garden with over 118 tree species and on some days you can see the spray rising high over the falls as you play on the course.. There is a historical Edwardian clubhouse with a long verandah overlooking the course. Here a light menu is available and food is served on the verandah, in the bar or in the restaurant.

History of this Zambia golf club

This Livingstone Golf Club was built in 1908. It opened as a 9 hole golf course to supply entertainment and sport for the European settlers that first came to Livingstone. The layout of the course as it was is not known but it is certain that playing conditions were probably rough, although it did provide much good sport and links to the early pioneers of the game in Africa. In November 1910, His Royal Highness the Duke of Connaught and his wife the Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia visited the Club, and in 1925, the Prince Edward, then Prince of Wales, was hosted by the Club. This Livingstone golf course was redesigned in 1936 and then renovated in 2006. Peter Matkovich recently redesigned the full 18 holes.

There are two gym buildings at the Livingstone Royal Golf and Country Club. One is equipped for weight training, circuit training and body sculpting, the second for aerobic and karate sessions. The separate spa is perfect for relaxing in afterwards. The environment here is well suited to couples and families as there is something for everyone at this Livingstone fitness centre. And there is also the golf course and clubhouse to be enjoyed. The clubhouse is an historical Edwardian building with a long veranda overlooking the course. Light meals can be selected from the menu and food is served on the veranda, in the bar or in the restaurant.
