Khulu Associates

Khulu Associates develops training, monitoring and evaluation programmes, reporting systems and databases to ensure the effective integration and sustainability of their programmes. They implement and conduct training of workforce and communities, and train a core group of trainers who then continue to expand and scale up the training. They aim to

• Develop a strategy for the prevention and mitigation of HIV/AIDS amongst the workforce
• Provide training in the core management functions
• Undertake management skills updates in the broad HIV/AIDS and reproductive health spectrum including counselling, adherence to ART as well as support and linkages to enable communities to develop a supportive palliative care programme
• Train the trainers for scalability
• Increase workforce capacity

Areas of focus and expertise

The associates main areas of focus has been the development of training materials for community based providers, HIV/AIDS and reproductive health. Another key skill has been in the training of young people in reproductive health. Concept papers on training programmes can be provided.

Development of training material

Khulu Associates has developed and participated in the development of training materials in PMTCT, home based care, ART, family planning and adolescent sexual reproductive health.

Regional scope

The regional scope of Khulu Associates is ECSA/SADC. Based in Zambia, it will have a regional office in Tanzania to cater for the East African market. Khulu Associates has affiliates across the ECSA/SADC region and are able to effectively conduct training and capacity building programmes in any of these countries.

Rates

For consultants, each baseline survey, literature review and workshop or training activity will be calculated based on the nature of the activity, the number of days, the equipment and supplies required for the given activity.

By using the nurses and midwives registered with sister company, Nonkhululeko Nursing and Midwifery Agency (NNMA), Khulu Associates will be able to share their skills and competencies into the field.

• Train a core group of trainers in the reach4life package (5 health providers and 5 youth peer educators).
• A peer educator work closely with a health provider for the first year to build capacity.
• Develop a strategy to scale up training in local schools
• Promote behaviour change using the reach4life approach which includes impact of HIV/AIDS
• Provide follow up monitoring and evaluation systems
• Development of prevention, care and treatment and support systems for youth living with HIV/AIDS, and drug and alcohol abuse
