Imbuko Family Winery
The Imbuko brand was created to showcase Africa in a bottle. The story of these excellent wines dates back to 2004 when the Van Zyl family, in their rented home, started a brand known as Imbuko wines. Today, Imbuko wines have grown to become a flourishing wine business exporting wines to 32 different markets around the globe. Imbuku bottles wines for their Du Plevaux, Van Zijl Family Vintners, Shortwood, Makulu, Rebourne (Fair trade) and Releaf (Organic) ranges. Wines are made from Uitkyk grapes and specific wines from selected terroirs in the area.
Ranges
The River Range brand, which includes the Falls brand of wines has been molded with fantastic fruit flavours.
The River Red Blend of Cinsaut, Ruby Cabernet, Cabernet and Merlot bring together the harmony and strength of Cabernet, but the soft touch of Merlot. There's also the gentle spiciness of the Cinsaut.
The River White Blend of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Viogneir, brings upfront fruit with the typical Sauvignon Blanc flavours of gooseberries. The balance between fruit, alcohol and acidity makes this wine gentle. The varietals were specially chosen for their fruit and back bone, but most of all for their drinkability.
Everything about these wines has been carefully investigated. The label is inspired by the Southern African region with the Victoria Falls taking centre stage. Labeling is fun with great use of colour – the brand and wine is not meant to be serious. Exploring all the wonderful elements wine has to offer is really what the Falls wine range and journey is all about. You will also find an array of interesting facts on the back of the label.
