DGM Beverages Ltd

DGM Beverages Ltd deals in the supply of quality alcoholic beverages. The company was originally established by Duncan, Gilbey and Matheson International from the United Kingdom but has since changed ownership to the Zambian company.

DGM Beverages Ltd is located in the prime part of the industrial area of Lusaka on the corner of Mukwa and Lumumba Road. Its manufacturing plant includes a modern spirits blending, distilling and bottling plant.

DGM Beverages Ltd currently blends 14 different spirits in the whisky, brandy, gin and rum category. The company inherited several top British and Dutch brands from its previous owners. Now it holds the trademarks for these brands in Zambia but also distributes them throughout the country.

Production

The DGM Beverages production department is made up of several departments. The storage hall is a facility that can store up to 40,000 litres of alcohol. This is pumped to blending tanks in the blending hall using electrical pumps. The company has seven blending tanks that are fully motorised. Its water treatment and demineralising plant ensures that water used in blending is up to international standards without residues. Finally, its bottling plant washes and automatically bottles 500 cases per day. At present, utilisation of the bottling plan is is below 30%, so there is no limitation in production capacity due to increased sales volume. DGM Beverages Ltd recently purchased equipment to enhance the packaging of plastic bottles. This move is expected to improve production in order to meet ever rising demand in the 200 milliliter bottles.

Distribution

DGM Beverages Ltd has several distributors in Lusaka and Copperbelt provinces. Its distribution network includes all major supermarkets in Zambia and it has made several exports to neighbouring country, Tanzania. DGM Beverages Ltd has plans to export its products to Malawi, DRC and Angola.
