Opened in 2001, the 3-star AVANI Victoria Falls Resort is a sprawling resort hotel with an informal atmosphere, and a colourful, fun design throughout. The closest hotel to the Victoria Falls, it’s really all about the location as you’re just a few minutes' walk from one of the Natural Wonders of the World.

Each room has a view of either the lush African bush or the large landscaped swimming pool that lies at the heart of the hotel, and the rich, earthy colour of the rooms is a constant reminder that you're in the vibrant heart of Africa. Built over two levels, they’re either pool or garden facing. The ground floor rooms having a sliding door that opens up directly onto the grounds, while the 1st-floor rooms each have a balcony.

With walls painted in geometric designs – a mix of earthy tones and some brighter colours – most of the 208 standard rooms have either twin or double beds, although there are also rooms with two doubles, which are suitable for families with young children. All have a television, tea and coffee making station, a telephone and an electronic safe. The en-suite bathrooms, with a bathtub, separate shower, toilet and washbasin. Soap, shampoo and moisturizer are also provided. The four suites are broadly similar to the standard rooms but have an extension to a separate lounge (with sleeper couch) and an additional bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin.

At the centre of the hotel is a huge, curving swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas dotted about on the grass. Adjacent to the pool is an alfresco café and bar, with the main restaurant just beyond.

It is made from a root vegetable and looks a bit like meatloaf.

The Falls Convention Centre can be subdivided into separate areas depending on your requirements. There is a business centre that offers guests faxing, printing and internet facilities. The centre has six sophisticated conference rooms, three boardrooms and fully equipped business centres.

The AVANI Victoria Falls Resort Convention Centre is able to host a total of 450 delegates. It can host delegates in a range of styles such as 240 in the banquet buffet, 400 banquet served, 450 cinema, 450 cocktail, 360 dance served and 342 in the school room style.

The Kafue boardroom

This is a small breakout room that holds a maximum of 10 people in a typical boardroom style. Located in close proximity to the conference and business centre, the Kafue board room can be easily accessed during a conference.

Tonga meeting space

Perfect for an office, breakout meeting or board meeting during a conference, the Tonga meeting space can hold up to 25 people i.e. 10 in meeting style, 25 cinema, 15 cocktail, 20 schoolroom and 10 delegates in the u-shaped style. It can also be combined with the Lozi Meeting Space to host up to 50 attendees and is also located close to the conference and activity centres.

Lozi meeting space

This is similar to the Tonga meeting space and is also ideal for an office, board or breakout meeting during a conference and also holds up to 25 people. It can hold 10 in the boardroom style, 25 in cinema, 15 in cocktail, 20 in schoolroom and 10 in the u-shaped style. The Lozi meeting Space can also be combined with the Tonga Meeting Space to host a maximum of 50 delegates. This meeting space is also located close to the conference and activity centres.

Luangwa boardroom

This is a slightly larger breakout boardroom and is able to host up to 12 delegates in the boardroom style, and ideally located close to the conference and business centre.

AVANI Victoria Falls Resort has placed two workout stations at points along the trail to incorporate some resistance training into the activity.
